Creating "comp types" is a way to associate multiple exam item sets with a single procedure. So if a program has a Lab, General, Recheck and Final comp for Abdomen, the evaluator will have the option of selecting whichever type is needed before moving to the exam items page. Comp types are filterable from Reports-->Comps: Completed page, making it possible to filter only on Lab or Final comps, then generate an average for only that comp type set. Instructions below are for creating 2 item sets for 2 new comp types for comp items that currently exist but have no designated comp type.
To enable Comp Types, go to Settings and check "Require comp exam type selection" and Save. Don't do this until you are ready to set up comp types and copy over, because competencies that are not typed will not be available for completion until they are. Note that competencies previously submitted will be retained with no comp type setting and can be filtered on no type from the Reportss: Comps: Completed page.
Visit Comp Exam/Log Setup-->Exam Items and select and major study and procedures. Click the Edit icon above the Comp Type column and name the types desired. Now we have 2 comp types and a set of untyped items. What we want to do is:
1) Designate the existing items as the first comp type
--To the left of the ID column, click the checkbox in the green area. This will select all items.
--In the Comp Types dropdown box, select the desired comp type and click "Set." Go to each procedure that you want to convert and repeat this process.
2) Create a new item set for the second comp type
We could either add new items individually and designate as the second comp type, or we might use the same items in a new comp type, perhaps a "Retest" or "Recheck" comp type. We will do the latter.
--Select all the items as described in step one.
--Click the "Clone Selected" button and select the empty new comp type
--Set to Same major study, same procedure, same score.
--Click the Clone button.
3) Copy the new comp typed items to all other comps in the major study area.
--Reset the Group dropdown to the new comp type item set.
--Again, select all the items, as described in step one.
--Click "Clone Selected.
--Now select Same Major Study, Pick Multiple Skills. Choose Select All, then deselect the comp that already has the existing items. Check the number of items currently in each comp that is displayed in the parenthesis to the right of the procedure name.
--Choose Same Score, then click "Clone." the new item set will be in each of the selected procedures.
