Score Calculations

The Score Calculations page (under Reports: Evals and Forms) will allow faculty to calculate an overall score that can include comp exams, selected evaluations, and even items that are not available online (such as classroom participation) - and even weight them!

First, if you want to assign more weight to one or more items to be calculated, check the "Use Weighting" box. Weight boxes will become available for each item. Be sure the total weight of all selected items is equal to 100.

Set the date parameters, for instance for this semester only.

Select Areas.

Note that you can generate score calculations by student Level if you wish.

Select the templates you wish to include.

You can also include comp exams in the calculation. Click "How" for instructions and a link to the page from which to begin. Basically, you will filter the comp exams that you wish to include from the Reports: Comps: Completed page, then click the Averages button on this page. At the bottom right of the page will be a link "Include Averages in Score Calculations". Click this link, which will return you to the score calculations page. Comp exams averages are now included.

External considerations - you may include up to 10 "external considerations" things which are not included as either an evaluation result or a competency, such as classroom participation or homework assignments.

Select desired evaluators, subjects and sites.
Choose the method in which the final report scores will be displayed. "% Point Sum" will display in percentage format and is usually recommended for the final report.

Consider using the same scoring system for all your evaluations. Keeping a 1-2-3-4-5 system, or a 100 - 90 - 80 system across all evaluations will make understanding report results easier. Because of the number of variables and possible outcomes based on how your evaluations and competencies were configured, we also recommend that you double check the calculations manually until you are satisfied that the results are what you expect.
