Think of "validation" as a checkmark in the corner of a checkoff, comp exam, or evaluation. Its meaning can vary for each program depending on what is useful. Your program may not use this feature at all. Some possible uses:
- Indicate the item was reviewed by a faculty member.
- Indicate the item was discussed with the subject or with the evaluator, or both.
- Show agreement between the evaluator and faculty member.
- Document that certain aspects of the item were discussed with the subject (such as a discussion of images involved in a radiography program).
- Since validation is a filter setting, items selected as validated can then be filtered in that way, acting as a custom filter for whatever criterion is relevant.
Note that filtering by validation can display all items, validated items, or non-validated items. Don't forget to update the display set by clicking "Apply" after setting the filter.
If you are faculty, you'll see checkboxes in the validation column (see screenshot). If you're not, you'll see only a green, unedtable checkmark.
Validation for competencies/checkoffs can also be seen on the Skill Summary and will appear as a red plus beside the competency date.
